Grama Vikas has been working with Arghyam, Bangalore since 2010 in one Grama Panchayat(GP) called O.Mittur GP to strengthen the Gram Panchayat as an institution of self governance, as constituted under Article 243-B, for the rural areas under Grama Panchayat Organisational Development(GPOD).
Arghyam has been working with 2 NGO's in Kolar and Chickballapur districts in Karnataka. GV has been facilitating GPOD in Mulbagal taluk of Kolar district.
GV strongly believes to create any IMPACT on the midset of Government the project has to be scaled up.
In the light of the above, a proposal was submitted to the Ministry of Panchayat Raj, Government of India (GOI), through the Ministry of Panchayat Raj, Government of Karnataka. On 10th June 2014, Dr. Jayalakshmi, member of the CENTRAL EMPOWERMENT COMMITTEE(CEC) in Ministry of Panchyat Raj, GOI, New Delhi visited O.Mittur GP to discuss with the GP members and the staff to understand the experiences of GP members in GPOD.
GPOD Scaling up
GV GPOD Project staff visited two new GPs to motivate to participate in GPOD process and shared their experiences while working with O.Mittut GP. Motivated two members and staff of 2 GPs in Bangarpet and Mulbagal taluks and informed both the GP members to submit Expression of Interest(EOI) if the GPs are willing to participate in the process.
Election of New President in o.mittur GP
On 16th June 2014, Mrs. Vasanthakumari was elected as new President for GP. A Grama Sabha was conducted soon after the election of Mrs. Vasanthakumari. GV Executive Director has too attended the Grama Sabha and assured her all the support from GV to strengthen her hands. About 100 citizens had participated in the Grama Sabha and placed before her their demands. Executive Director of GV two demands to get support for RAITHKOOTAS(Farmers Club) from NABARD and LOCAL REGIONAL RURAL BANK and SC & ST Development Corporation.
Knowledge partner (KP)
On 20th June 2014, a NGO called SCOPE in Dharwad who is acting as Knowledge Partner(KP) in the area of Water & Sanitation visited O.Mittur GP's villages and collected lot of information about Water & Sanitation status... Read more
